Millennium Yew Planted

Yews for the Millennium was a high profile project organised by The Conservation Foundation in association with the Church of England in 1998/9. Yews estimated to be possibly 2000 years old were used to propagate almost 8000 young yews. Every church was offered a tiny yew cutting, and these were presented at special services, held in cathedrals and churches around the country. St Stephen’s Millennium Yew has been nurtured carefully for the last 20 years and is now a small tree about 1 metre high. The Millennium Yew was finally planted in St Stephen’s Churchyard on Remembrance Sunday 2019.
